Captain Don Fleming has earned a United States Coast Guard Master of Oceans License for vessels rated up to 100 Tons. He is authorized to voyage worldwide with unlimited distance restrictions. He offers a wealth of knowledge based on more than twenty-five years experience aboard a wide variety of boats ranging from “high tech” to traditional. He has cruised extensively throughout the East Coast and the Caribbean, and has undertaken numerous ocean passages and Bermuda Races. He is constantly upgrading his own training and certification in order to keep his level current.

Captain Fleming is recognized by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) as an official trainer for the State of Connecticut Safe Boating Certification Program.

His seamanship articles have appeared in several magazines including POWER AND MOTORYACHT.
BOATING hailed him as “the docking doctor” in a full page editorial. SOUNDINGS featured his natural approach to “getting the knot out of your stomach” in a multi-page article discussing the advantages of his training program. MOTOR BOATING & SAILING said, “Fleming is a true professional—polite, calm, and patient—and his lessons are worth their weight in gold.” BOATING featured him a second time praising his ability “to work alongside his clients to help them get the feel of their boats”, and inducted him into their BOATING MAGAZINE 25,000 MILE CLUB.
